Here I am trying on my first ever woven beret. I still have some ends to weave in. If it was any smaller it wouldn't have fit. It drapes quite nicely. I've had the red yarn for years. Glad it finally got to become part of something I'll enjoy wearing.

Birthday Portrait

My birthday self portrait

Since I knew I'd be alone most of the day on my birthday I decided to pamper myself. This is the best I've felt about myself in a long time.

I've been posting a daily self portrait on a Facebook group I made, but since a lot of people aren't on Facebook I'll still post photos of me here from time to time.

I just took these outside in the wind for my fashion blog. The wind makes me feel energized.

Hypnotic Self Portrait

People might think it is hedonistic or vain to take self portraits.  Sometimes it is sheer torture. On those days when I hate the way I look or feel older than the hills, a self-portrait just rubs it in. I find myself preferring photos from my younger days like this one. I mixed this with a spiral I made on Paint Shop Pro7 to make my new hypnosis avatar. This one I like.

High Desert Self Portrait

Here I am at my new home in the high desert. It snowed last night. I took this this morning. The air is so chilly and the puddles have ice in them still. So I gave up on drying clothes on the line and headed to the laundromat where it was nice and warm. I managed to forget my purse but I called home and got my library card number so I could use the library's computer. My computer at home is stuck with a dial-up connection until Verizon adds more DSL ports. So I'm behind on all my blogging. I can only blog at the library because it takes about an hour to make a blog post from home, if it works at all.

Yesterday it rained, hailed, then snowed.

Today's task was to fix a handbag for a friend. She got it used, with broken straps. So that's what I'm doing in my self-portrait.

New Self Portraits

I've started doing daily self portraits again. In some way it helps me learn about myself and focus my energies. I just realized how often I wear blue.  For it not being one of my favorite colors, how do I end up with it so often?I'm trying to learn to appreciate myself no matter what my age or weight is.

Sunhat and Glasses

As I age, it's harder and harder to keep taking self portraits. I become obsessed with every new spot on my face, every new wrinkle, jowls, sagging, and my lips getting thinner and thinner.  Still, I hope I have some redeeming qualities. I can find beauty looking at older faces. I just wish I could find it in my own.

I wanted to dress up a bit for my new fashion blog. Even in January, it's t-shirt weather in my Anaheim, CA neighborhood. So I'm wearing a sleeveless t-shirt and the new scarf I just bought.
